
Sarah Esty
Sarah Esty drives effective management of public benefits systems and government operations, working across governments, nonprofits, philanthropies, and the private sector. Previously Sarah served as an appointee at the Department of Health and Human Services, where she managed technology, data, and digital services projects across the department as Senior Advisor for Technology and Delivery to the Deputy Secretary; led interagency public benefits system streamlining projects; and served as Senior Advisor at the Administration for Children and Families overseeing case management operations for the Unaccompanied Children Program at the southwest border and during the Afghan Evacuation. Prior to her federal work, Sarah served as Policy Director for Michigan’s HHS, including directing large sections of the state’s COVID response, and driving priority crosscutting initiatives for MI HHS, including redesign of the state’s $3B Medicaid behavioral health system, 5-year state HIT roadmap, Social Determinants of Health strategy, and backbone technology system infrastructure. She also worked as consultant at McKinsey, advising half a dozen state and local governments, advocated for low-income children and families in her home state of Connecticut, and worked on over a dozen political campaigns.
