Kadisha Davis
Kadisha Davis is a Housing and homelessness advocate, and she knows the subject better than most. Having experienced homelessness, she has interacted with the broken systems that are meant to help people with housing insecurity, and that has shaped her into the person she is today. As a lived expert, Davis advocates for those at risk of and currently experiencing homelessness.
Over the years, Davis has told her story through her YouTube channel and Podcast, Hear Our Voices, to help others navigate the system. She’s also helped design a cash transfer program in New York to help families get cash in hand and move out shelters quicker.
Additionally, Davis shares her wisdom as part of the Aspen Institute Financial Security Program’s Community Advisory Group (CAG). She not only informs the program’s research, activities, and publications, but shares her expertise with policymakers. “Homelessness,” Davis says, “isn’t just something that happens to others. People, no matter where they are in life, can fall at any point.”
